Holiday Support

Helping to Make the Holiday Season Brighter

Every year. from early November through mid-December, the Care & Share facility opens its Holiday Store to provide support to our clients by providing warm winter wear, holiday-themed food baskets, wrapped toys and gifts.

This is the busiest time of the year at our facility for our volunteers but it is also the most rewarding for our volunteers.

Together, we can help make the holiday season a brighter one for our entire community.

Volunteer Opportunities

It takes many volunteers to provide Holiday Support, and there are a variety of opportunities to help, including:

Sponsoring a local family or individual’s Holiday Food Basket and/or Holiday Gift Basket
Staffing the Holiday Store
Intake of donated coats, hats, mittens, gloves and linens
Collecting donations from local merchants
Packing and delivering holiday food baskets

Light Parade Fill-A-Float

If you plan on attending the Niantic Light Parade, please consider bringing non perishable food items to Fill the Float or volunteer to march and collect the food.

Angel Giving Trees

Care & Share Angel Giving Trees are located in many of the local banks and retail stores and at the holiday store throughout the holiday season. If you are able, please take a tag and purchase the item requested from our clients. Your angel gift will bring cheer to those in need.

Holiday Food

Care & Share volunteers package holiday themed food baskets for our clients in need. Items such as turkeys, hams, boxed stuffing, canned sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and gravy are welcome. Please keep in mind we have limited freezer space and may ask for turkey & ham donations as close to our delivery dates as possible.

Gently Used Winter Wear & Holiday Gifts

Gently used coats as well as new hats, gloves, mittens, toys and gift items may be delivered to our facility. We also have a need for holiday wrapping supplies; partial packages/rolls of wrapping paper, ribbon and tape are gladly accepted.
